Enjoy music, breathing the clean air of the Sierras, hiking, healing, singing, and swimming in breathtakingly beautiful fresh mountain lakes and rivers. Sleep in comfy beds at night (unless you prefer to camp).
We'll gather at Clear Air Mountain House ~ a fragrance-free, smoke-free, lesbian-owned LGBT-friendly retreat, near the Yuba River, Pacific Crest Trail, waterfalls, Sierra Hot Springs, and over 40 lakes! This is in Sierra City, on Sacred Mound Road (yep, that’s the actual name of the road)! More at www.facebook.com/clearairmountainhouse
This is, delightfully, a fragrance-free and smoke-free space (it's also the home of a musician living with MCS). That means any scented beauty products will have to be left behind (we provide fragrance-free ones), and you'll have to ensure that nothing you bring with you (or have on you) has allergens or fragrances. Please see https://eastbaymeditation.org/resources/fragrance-free-at-ebmc for info on what that means.
Lodging is totally affordable (as little as $50/night, or $75/couple, camping 25/night, and there are numerous options available) and work trade is available to offset costs. There are opportunities to gain work trade through massage therapy, cooking, extra cleaning, gardening, repair work, or skilled trades. For more info on barter for other times as well, please see https://www.facebook.com/events/461256374304324
About the artists:
OutMusic Awardee Irina Rivkin layers poetic lyrics with rich textured harmonies, swirling with vocal percussive beats, all created live on-the-spot using her loop station instrument. Rivkin “performs her own breathtaking act as a "live one-woman choir" (using digital looping technology to astonishing effect)” Michael Dougan, SF Chronicle
Marianne lives in Oakland, CA and teaches beginning piano, guitar and ukulele to kids and kids-at-heart. She directs the Berkeley-based Organic Women's Chorus and performs solo and with the Merry Ukuladies, all over the Bay Area. Singer-songwriter Christine Kane says, “Marianne Barlow’s music speaks of beauty and depth. She weaves haunting emotional and personal lyrics with strong melodies and rhythms to create some real gems.”
Briget Boyle is a veteran Bay Area songwriter and guitarist who incorporates the flavors of Eastern Europe into deeply personal, driving melodies and rhythms.
"Emotionally resonant…sorrowful and redeeming" —Chad Liffmann, Spinning Platters
We hope you will join us to walk among wildflowers, breathe in waterfalls, swim in the Yuba River & clear mountain lakes, and enjoy live music.
For more info about joining please email email@example.com and/or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Musicians: we have room for one or two more artists. To inquire about joining the lineup, please email email@example.com
Unfortunately, this fragrance-free home is not yet wheelchair accessible, but we'd love to barter with a skilled tradesperson who'd make it so in exchange for lodging.
Hope to sing, dance, swim, stargaze, and laugh with you soon!
