Help me make my third album, Heartbreak Residue

Like many of you, I have experienced loss in a variety of ways over the past couple of years. Once we experience grief, it becomes something we carry. I don't see it as something that we heal from, but rather a new piece of us that forever shifts our view of the world and I don't think that is a bad thing.

Over the last two years, I have been asking myself this question: what is it to create from this place? How can I be vulnerable and honest about my new traveling companion, grief? The answer, as it often is for me, was to create this music. To write it out. To use the tools that I have learned through my many years of being a performer and teacher to shape an experience for you, my dear community.

This project is a collection of songs that will be recorded and released, yes, but more importantly, this project is about creating space for you--for us. It will be a space for all of us to know that we are not alone and that these feelings will not be the end of us, but rather, seeds for what is to be created. By joining this community, you will gain access to a pool of resources that can support as we move through challenges. There will be listening parties, story sharing parties, meditation downloads, and much more that you are welcome to experience.

I would love for you to partner with me in this journey. I want the songs that I have written to be a healing backdrop for you in whatever you are experiencing. I started recording on April 28, 2022 and am thrilled with how this music is shaping up. I cannot wait to share the sounds with you!

“The Songs On ‘Heartbreak Residue’ Sound Like A Novel Set To Music. ” - J. Poet — East Bay Express

Heartbreak Residue, the new LP from Bay-Area songwriter and activist Briget Boyle is a record that is ripe with raw, honest emotion. Buoyed by propulsive percussion and shimmering electric guitar, Boyle paints melodic pictures of the pivotal moments in life. Told with an eloquent economy of language, she speaks to the universal human experience. The tales written in this melodic jewelbox journal are imbued with a bittersweet nostalgia, yet they are far from maudlin. Rather, Boyle’s gift of a voice, leaping effortlessly from aching and intimate, to a soaring, razor-edged flash of power, rings with such a purity of sentiment that the listener is immediately drawn into her world, soon to find themselves shouting along with every chorus.

Briget Boyle: vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion Tim Silva: vocals Genesis Fermin: drums David Wellerstein: bass, percussion Jacob Light: electric guitars, synth

Michael Bang: piano (1, 4, 8) Juliana Graffagna: accordion (1) Jan Fidelis: hand claps (6) Lewis Patzner: cello (5, 9, 10) Vicki Randle: vocals (8) Karen Tobin: vocals (6)

Financial Transparency

Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things.” - Tom Petty

FAQ

Q: May I select more than one item from the give and receive section?
A: You may add any combination or number of items to your cart.

Q: When should I expect to hear about my items?
A: I will be in touch in June about scheduling any live events. If you ordered the meditation you can expect it by June 1, 2022.

Q: When I contribute to this campaign, how much of my money will go to this project?
A: I chose to run this campaign on Bandzoogle and they don't take a percentage, unlike many of the other platform options (thanks, Bandzoogle!) There is a small fee per transaction for Paypal/Stripe, but that's just the cost of doing business!

Q: Why was this project so expensive?
A: Recording and releasing music requires resources to ensure a quality, and marketable product. The project budget includes renting the studio, hiring the producer, musicians, and graphic designer. I will also be bringing on an intern for administrative and social media support so that I can maximize the impact of this music and create new streams of income for myself. The money raised in this campaign will, in essence, create many jobs for the people around me - I love that!

Q: When does the fundraiser end?
A: Well, I have a soft ending set for June 1, 2022, but I will keep this page live until I have raised the funds I need to ensure that this album is a success.
